Why your child "doesn't hear" you the first time

When a child doesn't respond, the easiest explanation for an adult is stubbornness. In reality something else is often going on: their attention is already occupied, the request came from across the room, or it contained three actions at once.

Try coming closer, waiting for eye contact and naming one action instead of three. Instead of "get ready, we're late" — "shoes".

If it repeats every day at the same moment, that's a signal of overload rather than disobedience. Log those moments — within a week the pattern becomes visible.
